Interstices / Interferences is a text score containing a few simple rules for the musicians. For example, members of the ensemble are free to choose to play either melody fragments or static sounds, or to add accents to melody fragments played by others. Individual decisions and collective intelligence shape the music in real time, and each performance of the piece is a process in itself. From time to time, a randomly generated light signal tells the musicians to interrupt the music or make it disappear into silence. These events occur at unpredictable moments, each time giving the music the chance to start again in a different direction. Playful ensemble music that oscillates between the individual and the collective, the predictable and the unpredictable.
